The course objective in a nutshell

Understand what Secure Embedded Linux Systems means - the characteristics, the issues - and how to ensure that the challenges of these systems are addressed properly.

Material

We provide you with the various material required to work and complete the labs. However, you need a laptop with a recent operating system (preferably GNU/Linux, but Windows 10/11 and MacOS will do too).

Communication

A Teams chat workspace is available to allow discussions between students and lecturers. We will also use this platform to make important annoucements and send various messages to the whole class. Make sure to check the chat on a regular basis.

Timetable, location and rules

Labs

Throughout the course, you will be asked to complete a certain number of labs. For every lab, make sure to thoroughly describe your actions and solutions, especially regarding the various questions asked.

Grading

The course’s final grade is calculated as follows:

  • An end of course exam which equates to 70% of the grade
  • Several labs throughout the semester which equate to 30% of the grade

\(Final\ grade = Score_{Exam} \times 0.7 + Score_{Labs} \times 0.3\)
